Ok, so I’ve read a great deal on this and the info is all over the place. Of course sound quality is subjective so I get it. My question is this. I have a 2019 Bighorn with Alpine audio. Was unhappy with sound and swapped out the dash corners with Infinity Reference 3.5” using Metra harness. Reversed the polarity since it appeared everyone was doing that and the factory wire color chart from Crutchfield confirmed it. Sound improved. Decided to move on to door speakers using Infinity Reference 2-way in front doors (I know I only get bass response) and 3 way in rear doors. Got the ANC hum so I bought the ANC bypass cables from Crutchfield and the hum is gone. Still sounded muddy mainly from the rear so I pulled the headliner 3.5’s and that helped a lot. Still not happy though. I used the Metea 6514’s for the doors and the polarity matched the factory wire colors. Is it still possible the polarity is reversed? Tired of pulling the door panels and fighting with/replacing door clips.

I can't help with the polarity question, but will say that I did a similar mod in my 4th gen truck with the Alpine system and it improved the sound quality tremendously. Replacing some of the oem speakers with aftermarket helps clear up the muddiness of the stock system. Changing the 3.5" speakers had the biggest impact imo.

i never even considered reverse polarity i just got the pac harnesses from amazon and rolled with what was sent. i put a set of Kenwood KFC-XP6903C's in the front of my truck 2 months ago they were 175 bucks. it sounds amazing but i also replaced the factory alpine amp added a DSP and new subs lol.
leave the bass flat the mid flat and try 3 or 4 bars up on the treble? i thought the only way the rear headliner speakers played is if it was on surround.

Amp replacement is under consideration but everyone I talk to says it’s not worth the cost. Hearing numbers north of a grand and that’s too much for this truck. Don’t plan on keeping it too much longer cause it’s getting up there in miles. Plus I have a rattle in the front pass door that is driving me insane. It’s between the inner panel and the window and getting access is a lot of trouble. You have to disconnect a crap ton of stuff and hope it all goes back correctly.

I agree the 3.5’s in the dash made a huge difference! I think I would be happy overall if I could get an annoying rattle taken care of.
