Unlock the front or pull on the door lock on top of the door.

Sounds like the child locks are on, look in the owners manual or just look at the door, there is a hole with the white plastic piece pointing at lock-unlock symbols. Or.. it could be like my truck, where the left rear door handle is not connected to the lock assembly from the factory.
