Coming up on my second oil change. Last time I flushed the water separator canister, this time I have to change the media filter inside. I purchased the filter from Chrysler ($80CDN). Part number is 68436631AA.

I have heard the Cummins uses the same media filter. Their filter is $27 CDN. Part number from their website shows: Fleetguard Cummins ISB5.9 Fuel/Water Separator - FS19855.

Can anyone confirm if this is true or give some feedback?

Thanks.

I found the same OEM fuel filter #64836631AA at rockauto.com for $54.47 Canadian, add taxes and shipping for a total of $69.38. A bit cheaper than $80 + tax, it’s $90 + tax in at my dealer in Timmins.
I checked for the fuel filter at rockauto.com for 2500 Ram with the 6.7L Cummins it is the same part as our 3L VM Ecodiesel, it also shows a wix after market fuel filter for only $1.47 cheaper than OEM.
I was hoping to buy the oil filter at the same place but they only have the old part number 68498720AA, and not the new number 68507598AA. On the Mopar website it states that it replaces the old part number,

it was roughly $70+tax at my dealer because of a shop discount I received. Lol. So $80 taxes in. Have you looked on the Cummins website? I think I will order from there next.

That's the correct one. I buy it for $37.49 US from a place called dieselfiltersonline.com.

I also get the oil filter from them because it's almost 50% below list price.

The maintenance schedule for the fuel filter is 30k unless you're running more than 5% biodiesel. Have you experienced white smoke or rough running?

Thanks for the reply, I will see if my dealer can give me a better price.

I searched quickly and it looks like that fuel filter is for the older 5.9L Cummins Diesel engine, the Cummins site is hard to navigate, they show a few filters for the 6.7L, it is a bit confusing because it looks like there is a screw on type fuel filter and a cartridge replacement type

The owner's manual says every other oil change, and to never pass 20k miles.

I have not experienced any of those symptoms personally. I do my oil every 10k Kms so I figured I’ll do the diesel separator every other oil change. Probably a bit overkill but not super expensive so I don’t mind.

Interesting. That must have changed since 2016. Maybe, the newer generation ED requires more frequent maintenance.
