Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum and new to the RAM world, but already need some advice. Last Saturday, I bought a 2025 RAM 1500 Laramie from a local dealer in NJ. I had a specific truck in mind before coming to the dealer, so we went direct to the test drive and everything went well. The negotiation and documentation took several hours, but we finally arrived on a good deal and I was happy. Delivery was rushed as the dealer was closing. I inspected the car from outside and inside and noticed the mats were missing, but the sales person got a new one after I pointed it out.
When I arrived at home and opened the hood, I had a big unpleasant surprise. See the attached pictures. It appears like an animal had lodged in the engine, causing damage to the hood and battery heat shields. There is clear evidence of chewed wiring as well. I am very concerned about other potential hidden damage to wiring and hoses, and mainly having future issues (electrical issues, leaks, overheating, etc.) This is not my first car delivery, and I am blaming myself for not have opened the hood, as I always do.
I have taken several pictures (dated) and I wrote to the sales and sales manager explaining the situation. I will be at the dealer when it opens again this Monday morning (dealers are closed on Sundays in NJ) and I hope we can resolve the situation quickly and professionally. My main concern at this point is that even if they offer to replace the parts under warranty and inspect the electrical system etc., which is probably what will happen, I may still have the risk that something goes undetected and give me a headache later. I cannot simply trust a promise that future issues will be handled by them or by warranty, particularly as I am planning to move to another state. Should I contact Stellantis directly?
I would really appreciate any ideas, particularly if someone has gone through a similar situation already. I think this is a very unfortunate and specific situation, but as a buyer, I am very upset with the fact that I do not have a vehicle in the right conditions and that this was not noticed in the "final inspection" before delivery.
Thank you!
