I guess someone backed into me. Anyone know a good cover to cover it and top of tailgate to strengthen it? Hate to repair or replace prob expensive.

If it wasn't you, I saw a guy / truck with identical damage on Facebook yesterday. Said $1600 replacement

The the dent on top of the tailgate like that, to me it looks like someone tried to use a pry bar to get into your bed cover. Given that you're lifted and on larger tires, I'm not sure what could be tall enough to damage your tailgate like that if it backed into you.

Also, the tailgate linked above appears to be for 2500/3500 trucks. The part number for 1500's is 68278358AF.

tks, figures the 1500 would be much more

yes, or I was thinking the tailgate was open when someone backed into it.

Kind a looks like somebody backed up with the tailgate down

Looks like the type of damage typically seen when someone moves a trailer with the tailgate down.

Old post, but what did you use to cover up that dent? Did the same to mine, but with the tailgate up and 167 miles on the Odometer. :(

You could look into this Tailgate spoiler
I'll need to look into that., but not sure if thats the style I'm looking for. I did have the dent taken out via paintless dent removal, but unfortunately the paint cracked in the process (which the guy did advise me could happen). I put clear coat on it, but my OCD has a grip every time I see it. Good news is the tailgate is aluminum, so no rust! I'm also thinking, textured plastidip along the edge, or even paint on bed liner, which would obviously most permanent.

Textured plasti-dip along the top edge is a good idea. All the greasy handprints along the edge of my tailgate drive me nuts.

paint-less dent repair might be able to get that out. I have seen the local place by me do amazing work on worse dents
