I have a 2025 Limited with the HO motor. So I don't know why it took me so long to realize this or if this is somehow a new behavior but cruise control on this truck sucks. If I have my cruise set at any given speed, the truck won't shift below 6th gear to either maintain speed up a hill or to speed back up after getting stuck behind a slower vehicle. I was driving home in a mountainous area and had my cruise set at 80 (the speed limit). Driving up a fairly steep incline, I watched my speed start to drop. It shifted down to 7th and then to 6th and then continue to lose speed. It wasn't until I got all the way down to 56 mph before the truck shifted to 5th gear. By that point, it should have gone down to at least 4th gear but it wouldn't do so automatically. I put my foot into it and the truck shifted down to 4th and then sped back up to where it should have stayed. I tested this on many hills, in sport mode as well as tow mode, and it always did the same thing. If I got stuck behind a trucker and slowed down then cleared the truck, it wouldn't shift down past 6th gear to speed back up. In this specific situation, I don't want/expect the truck to floor it to speed back up but it took forever to get back up to speed.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior? The truck doesn't want to shift down past 6th gear to maintain speed on the freeway.

I don't what truck you have since you didn't include it, but that's not the case on my 2020.

No one has a comment on this behavior? I’m wondering if I need to schedule an appointment at my local dealer.

I did. Told you that's not how it works on my 2020. I assume you are using ACC, correct? It should down shift as needed. I drove several mountainous areas, and it maintained speed or down shift plenty to keep me up to speed. It never lost speed.
