Chains? Changed to narrower tires; what about Class "S"?

Hello,
My RAM 1500 came with 275/65R18 tires and I put on some Nokian Outpost nAT 255/70R18.
I've been reading about different chain options and am considering some cable chains for highway use and some heavier, real chains, for offroad snow and mud.
One of the considerations is my truck being an "S" class, with alleged, small clearance.
These tires are on 18" rims and the truck will also handle 20" and 22" rims. My current tires are also 20mm/0.8" narrower than stock and 30mm/1.2" narrower than the 285s on the 22" rim.

Can I use real "chains" on these smaller and narrower tires? Would the chain company know the answers?
Thanks!
