Carven muffler swap / resonator delete too loud for the wife

As the title suggests I got the stock muffler swapped out for the Carven-R and the resonators deleted. While I personally love it, the wife hates that she can hear it in the cabin 24/7 even when cruising. Does anyone have any suggestions on a different setup that still sounds like the hemi on cold start and hard acceleration but quieter during cruising?

MBRP high flow bolt on with resonator’s still installed. Cold start sounds great, hard accel sounds great. But at 50-70 cruising pretty Quiet. Buddy of mine cut everything out and went flowmaster super 10 sounds awesome but loud all the time.

Have you had a Carven? Or do you know how it would compare? How loud is it in the cabin?

I’m change R on TR-Series muffler,than add one more muffler by Vibrant performance, nice sound

You removed all 3 resonators? The two behind the tips and the one after the cat?

Maybe put the downstream one back on and then reevaluate. This is the cheapest and simplest option. I personally have a Flowmaster Outlaw (one of the loudest mufflers they make & similar to the Carven) with all 3 of my resonators in place. It sounds like a 60s era muscle car when on it, glorious cold start, but quiet during cruising. So I think working with your stock resonators will be helpful here.

If price was no object, go with one of the Borla catbacks, the loudest one being the Borla ATAK, loud when you want it but tame at cruising speeds.

No I have not had a carven. but MBRP mellow in cabin unless I’m on it

If you're older than I recommend 18" or 14" Magnaflow (or any other muffler that's a similar size) with resonators. Perfect sound for someone with a professional job.

I know I'm generalizing here but, if you have a wife, she's probably like every other wife in that she doesn't want all the attention of your truck probably because it sounds like a young kid is behind the wheel and, quite frankly, is embarrassed that people tell her they can hear her from 2 blocks away. An 18/14 will give you the deep hemi at WOT and, once broken in, a very nice, deep growl at lights.

If I were younger, the outlaw, 10, 40, dfit Maggie, borla and carven all make sense.

Also, the 5th gens are worlds apart as far as sound goes compared to other gens fwiw.

Thanks. A little late, but I actually went with the 18” magnaflow. I kept the resonator delete and will probably add back at some point as there is a little drone. At cruising speeds it becomes barely audible however. But you’re exactly right, I get my deep hemi noise and it’s still quiet enough that the wife doesn’t mind it. Win win. Thanks for the input though

At cruising speeds it becomes barely audible however. But you’re exactly right, I get my deep hemi noise and it’s still quiet enough that the wife doesn’t mind it. Win win. Great choice! I personally have an 18" + resonators and it's awesome. From what I hear, there's a break in with the MF so we'll see. I'm at 500 miles and so far sounds great.

I went with a muffler delete and kept my resonators it sounds just right for a daily

Very simple setup and has a remote control to open and clos the exhaust valve to have it NOISY when you want or back to stock sounding when you want it quiet.

Just don't ever go with the cheaper butterfly style. The shaft coupling fails really quick. This blast gate style should last much longer.
