Hello Everyone,

Have a 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn I picked up used in Feb. Recently had an issue where CarPlay or AndroidAuto wouldn’t recognize the phone even though the phone would charge. Brought it into the dealer and they’ve had it for about 10 days. Called me today to say they tried everything to fix the issue without success, only solution would be to replace the head unit for about 1K since it’s not under warranty.

The phone integration isn’t a huge deal to me but I am constantly on call for my job and end up joining a lot of meetings on the road so it’s a major annoyance not having this feature.

It seems crazy that a truck with 36k miles should have such an issue that’s not covered, along with another issue I’m having with not being able to fill up my gas tank due to a defect. Has anyone encountered a truck that just seems like a lemon before or had any luck complaining to Stellantis?

I had my 2015 Charger for 8 years with minimal issues but this is making me rethink choosing RAM in the future.

Thanks in advance!

They couldn't have tried "everything" if you are out of warranty. Sounds like the only thing they want to try is replacing the head unit. Things you can try yourself:
  • A different iPhone
  • A different cable
  • Reversing the cable (flipping the plug 180 degrees) on both ends
  • Deleting the phone from the vehicle and re-adding
  • Negative battery cable system reset
You may have already tried all of these.
