So, I’m about ready to pull the trigger on a 6” lift, but I’m not too knowledgeable on how they work with angles and such; this will be my first lifted IFS truck, I’ve always had solid axle Jeeps.
I see that 99% of lifts that are 3-3.5” use a new UCA; but across the board the UCA is an added option or just not available with a 6” lift; depending on if you’re looking at say BDS/zone vs Rough Country.
So I get that the knuckle raises the steering mounts and all to keep a better angle, but if that’s the case, why do they offer a new UCA? Does the lifted knuckle not get the geometry back exactly right? Is the UCA a worthwhile upgrade? Since some companies sell them separately and some don’t; is (for example) the Mopar UCA worth picking up for a 6” lift? Or is it still not enough to get things back in line? (My thoughts were if I did the 2” Mopar lift now and went up to a 6” bds later, can I reuse parts or do I need to order another $700 UCA)
Also; I’ve read that a lot of knuckle lifts push the front end out wider than stock; is that not an issue on these Rams? I’ve not seen anyone mention it as far as a spacer to make track width the same front to rear.
Thanks in advance for any all suggestions and advice
