We are considering a 1500 Bighorn 4x4 with the v8 Hemi which will be used as and everyday vehicle and to eventually tow a travel trailer. When using the "build it" tool on the website, is the information for the some of the package options (towing, etc.) the full detail or are there other things that would be included but just don't show? For folks who've "built" using the website, how did the truck you actually got compare with what you built? When you got your truck, did you check your truck build (https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing) against what you'd configured and found there were things there you hadn't realized you were getting?

Thanks in advance. (posted this in another Ram forum as well, sorry for the redundancy.)

I used the build it tool to get a price for my vehicle, but since I didn't order it from factory, it wasn't exactly the same. If you order it, it should come with all of your options. Finding the exact vehicle off of a lot is highly unlikely. You have to decide what options are critical and which ones would be nice but not absolutely needed. My local dealer didn't have anything close, so the had to look in a several state radius to find something acceptable. Most dealers have a deal if within a given radius, usually surrounding states, the vehicle can be transferred for free. I live in IL and my truck came from WI.

As far as things like towing capacities, you can look up the generic payloads and towing capacities on this link:
https://www.ramtrucks.com/towing-guide.html

Attached is 2019 info in a PDF file, there's probably an updated one for 2021.

Also consider that you don't get the exact payloads and towing capacities until you get the truck. All if the options change the weight of the truck affecting its payload. Higher end trucks with more options will have lower payloads. You can see my payload in my signature, each vehicle is different.

Edit: I forgot to mention, and I don't know if this would apply at rural dealers, the internet sales person is who you want to talk (if they sell online) to to get the best deal. If you go in and talk to the floor salesperson, they are going to negotiate the price and only on vehicles on their lot the old fashion way. You could pay more than someone buying from the online internet sales. The internet online sales person sells by volume and they give you the bottom line price, and they have the ability to search other dealers in a given radius for the vehicle you want. You have to give them a CC with deposit to start the search, but you can look at dealers inventories yourself. The dealer told me he couldn't find what I wanted, but I located one and told the Internet sales guy. He called and had the truck transferred free of charge. Some dealers are not part of the network, so it's not guaranteed you can get the truck you find on your own. It's was a no haggle price, kind of like CarMax. I got the $11.6k off just like the online price said, with no haggling.
