Hello All,
It's been a week since I purchased my 2021 RAM 1500 and have been taking it easy through the break in period. I am now over 300 miles and have noticed the shifting from 1-2-3 when just slowly taking off you can feel the shift points. Once up to speed the rest of the gears are ok. Now if I leave a traffic light a little more spirited, the shifts from 1-2-3 are smoother.
My questions are. I know the TCM learns your habits and I assume since I was taking it easy during the break in period. It may have adapted to the conservative driving style. Now that I am past the break in period, will it change and learn the new driving styles over the next several miles or would I need to get the TCM reset?
I also tried the throttle reset position steps posted on the forum here to see if it would help. I didn't feel any change. Also switched to 89 octane as the dealer filled the truck with the onsite gas which may have been some cheap gas.
I just read this in the manual.
"The electronically-controlled transmission adapts its shift schedule based on driver inputs, along with environmental and road conditions. The transmission electronics are self-calibrating; therefore, the first few shifts on a new vehicle may be somewhat abrupt. This is a normal condition, and precision shifts will develop within a few hundred miles"
