I am now getting a message from my 1500 that my blind spot detection is temporarily unavailable. The BS light on my passenger mirror is now always on, the BS light on the driver side mirror never comes on. The dealer did a diagnostic on it and said it is because I installed 3rd party mirrors. But...I've had those mirrors on for over 3 years and have never had a problem. They want me to purchase their mirrors for around $1,700. Right. Here is my logic. Both mirrors would not go out at the same time. If it was a sensor on the outside of the vehicle, same thing. I both driver and passenger side would not go out at the same time. I think it has to be something within the circuitry that controls both side...like maybe a circuit board or something. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to trouble shoot this? I was considering attaching the original mirrors back on the vehicle and see if it worked then but that's a lot of work, removing panels and such but if that's what I got to do, then so be it.

That's a typical dealer response. I've had one dealer do that before. Good luck. Or find another dealer.

Sounds like one of your BSM modules in the tail light is going bad. You can confirm by reinstalling the original mirrors, this is a pain but its what I'd do to make sure before spending time fixing or replacing anything else since you still have the mirrors. The dealership always points to anything "modifications" to the vehicle to say where the issue is located. Reinstalling the original mirrors then going to dealership to have them diagnose the error will get you better results. wiTECH can determine which BSM module is bad. If that is the issue.

The LED in the mirror is controlled by the door module. If there would be a problem with the mirror, the led would not be coming on. If the LED is constantly illuminated, that shows that the control module sends a constant signal to the LED. Either the door module is defective or you have the Module in the tail light going out. Try switching the modules in the tail light from right to left and see if the problem follows. If you still have the same problem, then your door module is the culprit.

I purchased a 2025 limited. It has 2000 mikes on it. And it’s regularly giving me the blind spot monitoring unavailable service required. Took to dealer. They said “unless it’s doing it all the time we can’t do anything about”. Their suggestion is to keep driving it until it totally dies I guess. In the meantime it’s regularly popping lights and warning sounds.

“unless it’s doing it all the time we can’t do anything about”. They full of it. If this system is not working as it should, there will be a code in the BCM stored, not necessarily throwing a CEL. They should have at least checked that for communication lost or implausible data received or something.

I had a similar response from my dealer on an intermittent problem!!!!
If they don't see it they won't even try and pull possible codes, won't even give written document of problem.
