Hi all,

Was wondering what your thoughts of these 2 packages. Are they worth getting when placing an order, or do you feel there are better aftermarket alternatives out there?

If you did go with the factory options (or went aftermarket for that matter), I’m curious to hear your reasoning and impressions thus far.

Thank you in advance

The BUG is probably worth it. If you want to add the rails and lights afterwards its 350-400 bucks alone. The OEM Spray liner is linex quality and also about 4-600 depending on where you get it done.

As for the tri-fold, i've heard mixed reviews on the OEM one but have not used it. I've always been an Access Roll-Up cover fan myself.

I had an Access roll-up cover on my last truck (installed by a previous owner), and it still looked pretty good after 15 years. I had to replace the velcro, and it was starting to show a bit of wear in the corners, but that's pretty solid.

I ordered the factory tri-fold on my new Ram, and it's performed fine so far. It has a bit of 'play' (i.e. you can slide it around slightly), but it has stayed secure. And when you fold and lock it, it is very solid. I haven't yet had to uncover the whole bed, but I do think it's inconvenient to have to remove it entirely (vs. a roll-up cover that just straps up front). Still, it seems sturdy. Time will tell if it wears well.

any road/wind noise with the roll-up style covers? (flapping)

Not that i've ever had. The Access ones come with straps and buckles so that you can secure it after you roll it up. I'm honestly pretty lazy and dont use the straps most of the times that I roll it up and still dont get any flapping or wind noise. I'd imagine thats mostly since it rolls up right on the front of the bed its more or less out of the window

Sorry, should have been clearer. I meant flapping when it's unrolled - as in when the bed is fully covered.

Oh, definitely not, its nice and tight and secured on all 4 sides plus it has 2 aluminum bars that run the width of it to provide some rigidity. The main reason I actually like the Access covers is that it can be released from either side of the tailgate.

As long as the Velcro is maintained, flapping is minimal. Over time (years, not frequently), you may have to adjust the side rails to keep it tight.

I have the OEM Tri Fold, its a modified Bakflip G2 with a different rear seal. Not sure what price they charge when ordering a truck but its $900 at the parts counter. Mopar has a 15% off coupon online so you can get it for $765, my dealer sold me mine for $750 which is about $100 cheaper than I could find online for Bakflip G2. I had my doubts about the cover but we just went through 8 inches of heavy wet snow and I ran it through the car wash and no water in the bed.

I’m having my bed sprayed in the spring. As far as tonneau cover I went with access vanish low profile roll up cover love the look and not much of a fan of the trifold with a 5’7 bed I need all the room in the bed.
