I purchased a 2025 RAM 1500 Limited Longhorn about 10 days ago. I discovered the factory supplied soft tri-fold bed cover would not suit my needs so I went about getting a replacement from my dealer. I have intended to keep the old soft cover and sell it on my own so the dealer would not have to fool with it. After going back and forth with the deler parts people we discovered that MOPAR made two (2) sets of rails for trucks having RAMBOXES like mine. The rails that came with the soft fold cover are black and very different from rails for the replacement hard rolling RETRAX cover, in fact, the replacement rails are $700+! RAM or Stellantis should be ashamed that a simple bed cover replacement involves such an expensive swap of rails.
This is a warning to future 2025 RAM 1500's with RAMBOXES that if you choose to replace the soft tri-fold cover for a hard fold or rolll-up type you will be faced with replacing your rails and spending $700.00 + on top of the cost of a new cover. No one at my dealership had been made aware of this issue and many new RAMS are coming with factory soft covers.
