This morning my 2024 2500 6.7 wouldn’t start. It would go through the preheat cycle and when I pressed the start button it wouldn’t do anything but black out the instrument panel and try to preheat again. Nothing was left on. When I checked the battery voltage it was 11.57 volts. I jump started the truck and took it to the dealer as it’s still under warranty.
Per the warranty guidelines they had to charge the batteries before testing them.
Here’s where I don’t understand what’s happening. The right hand battery had 11.57 volts, the left hand battery was DEAD? I’m trying to understand how being as both batteries are attached positive to positive, and the right is also grounded to the chassis How was one battery at 11.57 volts and the other one is “Dead”?
BTW, after the batteries were charged they both tested good.
Any help in understanding how this is possible would be greatly appreciated.
