Bakflip MX4 fitment?

i had one of these on my previous truck, 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport, and it sat flush along the top of the bed. The other weekend I had one installed on my 2024 1500 Limited and at the front section, portion that doesn’t flip, I notice it’s not flush with the top of the bed. See picture below.

Is this normal for our trucks? I know they are not water tight but seems like a lot of water and debris would get in like this.
