I gotta admit, trying to make head or tail of what you can get with what trim is confusing. Toss in Equipment A or B vs 1 or 2 and a chip shortage and it feels like there are lots of chances to be confused…. At least for me anyway. Probably not that difficult if I’m being honest.

Do the Backcountry’s or Big Horns in general come with power folding mirrors? If so, what option or package gets them?

thanks.

Based on the build sheets I have seen, the Bighorn Level 1 and Level 2 packages come with power folding mirrors. I don’t believe they come with the Level A or B packages though.

My 19 big horn level two had them on the window sticker as standard, but then replaced with tow package, towing mirrors.. Which I replaced with premium standard mirrors. I'm guessing if I replace the door module and window switch, I could make them fold using alfaobd. Not sure if it's worth the effort for me.

Is my understanding of A/B vs 1/2 is that the A/B are the packages that are due to chip shortage? I think the build webpages call the Premium Power Mirrors but it doesn’t say anywhere if they fold.

Yes, the A/B packages are new, and are lesser than 1/2. I can’t definitively say that the folding mirrors is the only difference in the Bighorn, but I know that is the case for Rebels.
Premium power mirrors are NOT power folding mirrors.

From my understanding, reading posts over the last year, the power folding mirrors are a victim of the chip shortage.

For what it’s worth, I have the power folding mirrors and they are junk! They sound horrible and the motor continues to run after they have completely folded in. I barely ever use them because I know it’s just a matter of time before they break.

I have them on my 2020 Bighorn level 1

When I filled out an order sheet at the dealer he checked level 2. I didn't know the difference at the time. I wonder if that means they are back in the mix and the webpage is behind? The only way I noticed it is that the level 2 was more expensive

I'd want to have them fold in every time I park my truck in my driveway since it's narrow, but it sounds like from @moosem experience they might not hold up.

I can't complain about mine knock on wood. They've been folded 3-4 times a day for the last 2 years without issue. That's the tradeoff I get for having all 3 rear cab water leaks

The website is inaccurate. Always has been, and even though they updated it recently it's still wrong.

Maybe they’ve been improved? My truck is an early build 2019MY (May, 2018 build). I have no confidence in mine. They seem to be very cheaply made.

I have a 2022 with level b and no power fold mirror, I have called ram and only level 1 or 2 have power fold mirrors and level A & B do not because of the chip shortage. The web site was fixed the night after my phone call.

I tested a used 2019 DT Big Horn that had the mirrors and they were a bit janky. The passenger side one seems ok, but the drivers side was delayed folding and the motor kept running after it was closed. I thought maybe it was broken, but maybe that was par for the course with them.

Maybe, but probably just luck of the draw

When I orderd my Rebel back in November I was also looking at a Backcountry. I went with the Rebel because the power fold mirrors were not avaiable on the Backcountry at the time due to the chip shortage. My understanding is however that the available options on all DT models can change regularly.

For everyone who is agonizing about the power-folding mirrors, here's a tip that I used on my 2nd Rebel. Just pay the $485 upgrade to convert to the power-folding trailer tow mirrors. My 2nd Rebel was a Level B, but still came with power-folding mirrors (which also double as mickey-mouse ears if you need it).
