First, I really do love my 2019 Ram rebel. Planned to keep it forever, but this problem with the leaking back window or wherever is really wearing me out. The wet back seat is bad enough when it rains, now worried about the whole back seat bearing trashed along with headliner. But, the worst is that because of this leak, my truck has left me stranded twice and had to be towed to dealership to be worked on while I was without a vehicle for weeks. To top it off the leaking persists. Supposedly I’m on the list for a new back window and third brake. I live in Ohio where it rains. Twice I have went out to my truck only to not be able to use the remote start, automatic door locks or anything. Evidently there is a computer component located behind the back seat that gets wet due to the leak and becomes nonfunctional. Like I said this has happened twice. My truck has less than 70K miles and I treat it very well. I often park on a slope so I engage the automatic parking brake. This is very problem magic when the computer malfunctions and truck has to be towed. I encourage you all to know where the Emergency manual disengage pull knob is located. Many tow truck drivers do not know of this. Disengaging this allows your truck to be moved when computer dies.
I just want my truck not to leak, and the computer not to die. Today, Thanksgiving, I came out to start my truck and get ready to go to families for Thanksgiving to find my back seat soaked from last nights rain. Just about at the point of trading my Rebel in for a different manufacturer. Once again I love my truck other than this issue, but I’ve had it in the dealership too many times to fix this issue with no resolve. Now on indefinite waiting list for new back window and third brake. Been on this list since last time left stranded (6months ago). Does anyone have any suggestions? Just put new tires and an awesome sport cap on the back.
Thanks

Why haven't you had the leak fixed?

Pretty well covered topic, try searching for "rear window crack"

Why haven't you had the leak fixed?
The dealership says covered under warranty, but waiting for them to fix. First computer malfunction due to leak they said it was fixed. Second computer malfunction dealership says I’m on waiting list for new back window and third brake. At mercy of the dealership

Sometimes you need to address fixes on your own to be sure they are done correctly. There are many posts on how to fix the 3rd brake light and the rear window leak. At this point, you need to fight with the dealership to fix any mold/mildew that could be in the carpet and fix the electronics that have been damaged.

Regarding waiting on the dealership, my son needed a windshield for his car and the local dealership said there weren't any and he'd have to wait 2-3 months for delivery. I called another dealership and they had 3 on hand. You should try calling another dealership.

too bad, I permatexed my new 24 first thing because I m paranoid about this with so many reported for years.

One of the mods I'm going to try is to waterproof the Body Control Module that's behind the rear seat.

I did have the leak and I've had my rear window replaced AND I've added permatex to the new window. So far, so good...but.

My thought is to remove the BCM, add some washers to space it off the rear wall and also put a bead of caulk on the wall to redirect any water to the side of the BCM.
I just need to find the time to pull the seats to do this.

Please make a DIY post on this if you are successful!!!

Thanks. I did think about just fixing the issues myself. Probably what I will end up doing. Might contact another dealership as well. Thanks again.

Good idea. I covered it with plastic to ensure the water goes around. Might treat it like an outdoor electrical outlet and cover it with a drain.
pictures too, LOL.

do we need to consider heat from the unit at all?

Don’t mind fixing myself, but when covered under warranty, I didn’t want to void the warranty.
It shouldn’t. In order for something to void warranty, the dealer has to prove what you did caused a part to fail. Plus they’ve already inspected it and ordered the part, so they know the parts are bad.

All you’d be doing is protecting your truck. No fault there

That sucks man, I've been complaining about the Stellantis dealership network for a while, they are just not up to the task at least a lot of them aren't.

Compared to so many other manufacturer dealership networks I've been through, Stellantis seems to be by far the slowest to react and quickest to try to avoid or deny warranty work.

I love my Rebel, and it's been generally trouble-free for the last 5 years, but I cringe at the idea of having to bring it in for a warranty repair. Just like my oil changes, if I can manage to do it myself with little out of pocket or fuss, I'll do that first.
