My first new Ram in 23 years, the last one was a 1500 4x4 club cab with 5.2L v8 in 1997 while living in WV. This one is a 2020 Laramie Longhorn 1500 4x4 crew cab with 5.7 v8 & 5' 7"bed. I've had a 2015 2.0L TDI vw sportswagen as my daily driver for the last 5 years and, although it was a nice ride, it feels good to be back in a truck. I'm not doing as much driving these days so not really a need for a 40 mpg ride. The Longhorn is replacing the vw & a 2008 F-150, reducing our vehicle count from 3 to 2 (the wife has a 2019 Highlander). We have 4 different trailers we use, including a couple of 7K trailers (an 18' Aluma car hauler & a 5x10' PJ dumper), so the Longhorn will be getting 13K lb. weighted NC plates.
I have to say this truck is the nicest vehicle I've had to date. The wife & I moved to NC after she retired in 2009, I had been retired since 2006. We live in Person county, out by Hyco lake, up near the VA line. We have about 4 1/2 acres at the home site and about 20 acres that were a portion of a family farm. We have a couple of small tractors for tasks at the house & at the fields. I still maintain the acreage (bush hogging, etc.) so we are occasionally moving the tractors back & forth as well as needing to move & dump tree and brush debris, so a tow vehicle is a necessity.
