Auto-shift to park when being towed

I got my '19 2WD stuck in sand. Had a local tow me out. When they were pulling me via the front tow rings, the truck would automatically shift to park and display a message about needing to shift to P then Drive again. WTF was that about? I think it was doing that when the wheels were spinning and no fwd movement.

At one point no, thanks for that reminder. I will test that theory out today.

Sounds like AutoPark engaged. There's a whole section on that in the owners manual. I use a seatbelt extender to defeat it.

Turn truck off, and pull the manual neutral cable in the dash, then pull the truck.
