Auto brake engaged randomly

I had my auto brake engage randomly (?) today when I hit the gas after a red traffic light turned green. I touched the gas, heard a small click and the brake engaged. It took some fiddling with the brake override handle, shutdowns and gear changes but it finally released and allowed me to clear the intersection. I did nothing to cause the brake to engage. Any ideas about what might trigger it?

If one of your doors is loose and opened a little it could send it into park and engage the parking brake. Not a common thing though. I believe I saw something about that on here somewhere a while ago.
