Good Afternoon, my past to Big Horn 1500's with Auto 4x4 clearly stated in the manual that Auto 4x4 will engage the front differential if the reart wheels slipped. You could drive around in Auto but I believe the front diff or something in the transfer case was engaged so your mileage suffered some.
My 2025 says Auto mode is for "everyday driving situations" or something similar. When in that mode you have to manually push the 2wd button to get it out of Auto. It says NOTHING about front diff being engaged if the rear wheels slip. Dealer knows nothing and hasn't responded to my request for clarification. Why in the world would RAM want everyone driving around in Auto if it worked like the old system? Anyone know anything about this?

Yea I know it automatically engages if you put it in sport mode. Not sure if they changed anything but I always could fee a slight binding in 4wd auto when turning with my 2019 but with the 2025 I can't tell any difference when turning. I generally only use it during wintery conditions.

Same. I'll use it in heavy rain if I start to feel it slipping a little. If the rain/snow isn't heavy enough to where you feel like you need it, then just leave it in 2WD. Though if you're not sure, 4WD Auto is fine. Also got for wet/snow mountain roads if there are lots of curves.

I guarantee nothing with the system itself has changed. Just the wording in the manual.
