I have a 2019 Rebel. the tail gate is sooo light. is it ok to drive my polaris atv on it? stuffing a atv in the back is way more fun then pulling a trailer. lol

i have the really short box.

thanks
Jay

No issues at all loading my 850 lb. ATV onto the tailgate. In fact, I recently had a 970 lb. item sitting directly on the tailgate without any issues.

The tailgate may seem very light to you because, well, it is compared to tailgates just ten years ago. Ram 1500 tailgates are made of aluminum and most models have a torsion bar spring which takes the weight off the gate and assists in closing.

I tried to find the weight handling specification in both the owners and service manual and couldn't find it.

Best regards,

What are you guys using for ramps?
I use a Kawasaki aluminum bi-folding ramp. It's about four inches shorter than the bed on my Quad Cab.

Dusty

Full Size Tailgate EX Support Bars for Dodge/Ram Full Size 1500

I use these for my 700lb Harley in my 5'7" bed with the rear tire sitting completely on the open tailgate. These take just seconds to install/remove with no modifications at all and add huge piece of mind, should the tailgate cable break or rip out under stress. $65 for any brand truck. I leave them under my backseat for whenever I need them. And I use wooden ramps for my Skidoo, aluminum ramps for Harley.

Bought these when I bought daughter a Polaris Ace 150. Not sure if they were needed but as stated, huge piece of mind just in case! Definitely recommend.

The MFT is advertised at 2k lbs. Seems hard to believe though.
