I've been wanting to get a tow behind but I just came across a 5th. wheel tipping 7000# and I've been reading that these are more stable on the road.
Anyone have experience with these?
Thx. Jack

Problem with a fifth wheel is pin weight. At 15- 20% it can quickly eat up a 1500’s payload capacity, even at only 7k lbs you’re looking at 1,050 - 1,400 lb pin

So your saying a tow behind is better because you can distribute the weight better?

5th wheel or gooseneck are always more stable, but at 7000lbs plus about 1000lbs of stuff you’ll have a pin weight of 1400-1600lbs which will max out most, if not all 1500’s. Better to go for a bumper pull trailer with a half ton.
