I’d be really careful poking improper “tools” into an automotive connector. You mess up one of those pins and you may be chasing electrical demons for a long time. Not telling you what to do, just saying.
Try the long one and push the wire forward since pulling it out did not work. It may be a push through style after looking at it. Its been a while for me. if neither work take a close up picture of the backside of the connector with the wires there may be a "cleaner" to push the lock and remove.
