Hey guys (that means you too gals), does anyone here have the sliding tool box? I was on the lot today and was able to get a good look at the sliding rails. I thought I couldn't use them because of my truck cap clamps but I could see they won't interfere and I believe I'm going to get them. That means I will probably get the tool box as well, as I've wanted it but needed the sliding rails.

Before I get it, I wonder a couple of things that I hope someone here can answer, as it's not real clear on the Mopar site:

1. How much clearance is there from the bottom of the tool box to the bed floor?

2. How wide front to back is the tool box?

3. How hard is it to slide the tool box once it is full of tools?

Thanks, I hope someone can answer this stuff because there's no dimensions or specs on the Mopar site at all. And I tried searching but didn't get many hits and no dimensions.

Thanks; I read that thread but it didn't have any dimensions, as far as I could see...

Please keep the forum updated with your info. I was thinking about the tool box.
I have the DiamondBack Tonneau and they have some nice tool box set ups. Can do side or cross mounted with their cover.

It may just end up that I have to be the guinea pig here, since it doesn't seem that the sliding toolbox is a very popular option. I'm kind of surprised, since it is a truck, but I guess more and more people don't need to drive a truck and certainly don't need to haul tools around. I hate to bite on $850 without knowing what the dimension are but unless I find a used one somewhere there's probably not a lot of other options here. My main concern is that there's enough clearance underneath it to at least fit a few 2x4s and sheets of plywood, because having to take it out to haul lumber wouldn't work out for me. I do have a bed extender, and I could use that, but man that would suck pulling that thing out every time I had to haul 8 or 10 footers around. Right now I only need to use it for 12 foot and longer lumber.

I thought the online price was 550 or so, still not cheap. I have not looked into the boxes available but I believe you can buy something else for 1/2 or so depending on what you choose and country of origin.

If you evaluate the cost of some tools it may not be bad for the added insurance.

The box is 623 and the brackets are 250 so it's about 900 combined. I'd still like to have them, I would just be bummed if the toolbox sits too low.

I see where you came up with the 900. I already have the rails. I'm interested in where the tool box comes from. With DiamonBack I know my $$$ are continuing to circulate in the USA economy to a company I believe in. You make a phone call to DiamondBack and not only is the phone answered by a person but you get an answer. I made a common error while installing the cover, called the company and was immediately informed by someone I can understand (without asking them to repeat themselves) about the error of my ways. I continued with the install with hardly discernable time loss. The Ram toolbox has the advantage of additional security if they get through my cover. Pretty easy to have a $1000+ worth of tools in the bed these days.

The DiamondBack side boxes are a nice options for someone who wants the similar storage of the Ram boxes but still has the full diagonal of the bed. Seems I often use the corner to corner to fit things.

Someone has posted this previously, Ford for now, more brands in 2021. Price - ouch! BUT it comes with a tonneau cover, so maybe not that bad.

Interesting alternative to the bed slide or decked systems.
