I’ve been interested in a RHO since they first launched, but not quite talked myself into taking the plunge just yet. One thing I’m hung up on is the $10k cost adder for the L1 package, which has an awful lot of bells and whistles that I either wouldn’t prefer or flat out don’t want in my vehicle. That said, there are a couple of things in that list that I have and appreciate in my 2020 Laramie.

I haven’t been able to find a lot of information on what is actually included in the base package. I’d love to see some pics if you have them.

Some things I have in my Laramie that I’d miss:
Front heated and cooled seats
Rain Sensitive Wipers
Sun Roof
CarPlay
Parking sensors
Reclining Rear Seats
Power adjustable front seats

I’m not clear which of these might be in base package. Some of these I may be able to self install later, but obviously some are impossible or not a very easy swap. I’m curious to hear from those of you in the know.

Also, what are the chances Ram changes the option packages in the future? Do they typically do this after receiving market feedback?

best to hit up Mark Dodge and ask. they know what's included, what's optioned, and if Ram will change options in the future.
Also they can give you a price that cannot be beat.

You can find the standard features on the Ram trucks.com build page in the Summary. Looks like the only things in your list that come standard are power adjustable seats and CarPlay. Heated seats are standard but you have to opt for the L1 option to get ventilated seats.

Thanks guys.

Already in discussions with Anthony.

Standard features list is still a bit vague. 9 speakers, not sure if they’re the same Alpine system as in my Laramie or not. I suspect they’ll meet my expectations tho.

Can’t find if the rear seats recline or not. That is a nice feature for the kids in back.

I’d honestly take a shot at just doing my own vented seat install if AlphaOBD works on RHO. I imagine I can do that for less than $1k.

That would really only leave me without rain sensitive wipers and pano roof. I have the pano roof right now and I could honestly live without it. I rarely use it, other than just having the extra ambient lighting.

Reclining rear seats are part of the L1 option so that’s not a standard feature.

Right now, alfaObd is not compatible with the 2025s, and I can't imagine you would be able to find used ventilated seats for under $1k on a brand new truck at this time.

Sorry, I meant the components to install the vents, not the entire bucket seats.

I saw a few posts from people who have done it, so long as the base seats are capable of receiving the components.

You would need new cushions and seat covers. Pretty much everything but the frame, possibly the wiring harness as well. And like you said not sure if the non-ventilated sets have provisions to mount the fans. I'm sure it's doable.

Is that a fact? They have completely different non-perforated seat covers for the non vented seats option?

Kind of sad, but that alone likely just cost Ram a truck sale. I can’t really justify the extra $10k for a bunch of added features I do not want to have in my vehicle… just so I can get vented seats.

doesn't Mark Dodge have a deal where you need to make it a certain MSRP price point and then they give you massive discount? i know for TRX you need to make the MSRP like $90k or so (which basically means getting $10k in options) so you get $10k off, which translates to free options. If you don't meet that MSRP price point, you only get incentives but no discounts.

also think of when you decide to sell the truck... a base model ain't gonna fetch anything compared to an optioned truck that shares the same color and mileage. people look at the sticker to see options, and they are not gonna pay attention to the seller saying "oh, I added X, Y, and Z myself because I didn't want to spend $10k on A, B, and C that are also in the package"
also, as someone who went through ordering a truck with stuff that I intentionally left out (thinking i didn't need at the time) and decide to add later on... it's just easier to get it done on the order sheet than trying to piece things together and mess with AlfaOBD settings.

A few assumptions there.

Mark Dodge offers $9k off on the base. $10k if you get to $80k, so realistically it’s a $9k cost adder to bring in the L1.

Regarding resale, much of the option package cost gets lost in resale. With or without the options are fetching nearly the same price near me for used TRX. I’ve talked with a couple of dealers who confirmed that. One even said color means more for resale than what options it has.

hmm pricing strategy must've changed for the RHO then. I didn't even bother to check because it's not 6.2 anymore lol

oh wells, just trying to help you remain in the Ram branded truck but if that $10k of options make all the difference to you then so be it.

Definitely love my Ram. Don’t exactly need an upgrade at this point, but I’m intrigued. $10k is still a lot of difference to our personal finances, so not something I take too lightly.

Does chap me a bit that my 5yr old Ram has quite a few options a $72k vehicle doesn’t have tho. I may just have to get past that

No - there is always a dealer discount it just changes based on what your MSRP is for the RHO/392/TRX type of vehicles. Tiered approach, but even the base with $0 options gets $9K off here (TRX did also with no options, but I forget what the amount was).

Other trims get % off MSRP rather than hard $ amount.

yeah it's fine. things change at Ram all the time with options and standard features. especially with the RHO the selling point is the truck suspension and the offroad performance, not the interior stuff (hence they make them options)

i mean the only reason why I'd get a base model RHO is if I decide to cage it with racing seats, go full custom Kings 3.0s all around, and turn it into a dedicated desert truck lol
$10k is a lot but good news: you don't have to get it now lol give it a few years to make up that deficit. also perfect time to let them work out the issues with Hurricanes.

i've been in an optioned out TRX and a base model TRX one belonged to the shop I'm at while the other belonged to the customer... that whole experience and feel is completely different. the base truck just feels like something's missing.

i see. last i checked pricing was in 2022 lol memory fuzzy.

now i've been looking at the ordering info for PW... boy oh boy!

I did a bit of searching last night and see the base also has perforated leather seats. So maybe that gives me a bit of hope vents could be added without an entirely new seat cover.

More reading to do.

The only hard part is getting it programmed to the truck since we can't use Alfa OBD anymore. I bought seats from a limited that have cooled and massaging but I can't use them yet :(

Is Alpha inactive for all new Rams? I guess I’ll have to look into that. I just assumed it would take them some time to work with the new model year.

Well they are still working on it, but I was told it would require another software too. I can't recall what Jimmy told me.

If they were to add vented seats to the standard package, I would definitely upgrade! But I'm with you, I really don't care about everything else..
