As has been pointed out, you don't need all the latest and greatest "overland" goodies to get out to some incredible spots. These are just a couple dispersed camping sites and trails our stock ORG has gotten us.

Also, just finished my answer to the RTT. We love the offroadie pop up for family trips, but the topper and platform/storage is great for me or me and the wife for quick excursions. Ideas stolen from many YouTubers, but it was a relatively easy DIY project. Modular, comes out in a few minutes if I need to use the whole bed, and doesn't attract any unnecessary attention.

quite the set up! my original order was that colour but it was discontinued and switched to patriot blue. the tailgate looks perfectly functional for how you use the truck. i thought about it, but they said it could be a huge further delay. any issues with yours? does seem like a complicated bit of engineering.

Thank you! I didn't know they discontinued this color. Makes me happy I ordered when I did.

I absolutely love the tailgate and I don't think it's that complicated. It's just a 2"x2" beam with some heavy duty hinges. The 60/40 opening is so much more useful than folding it down, and I can easily reach 3/4 of the way into the bed which makes loading bikes and gear WAY easier. Bonus points for the tailgate acting as an extra wind block for the stove. I literally never fold the tailgate down unless its to show someone that it does indeed fold down. I will never buy a traditional tailgate again as long as this is an option.

i thought i'd save the dough and keep it simple but i'm a similar user (99% recreational, mtb, fishing, paddling, camping) and would probably love that gate. i wonder if it can be ordered separately and retrofitted somewhere down the line. doubtful!

I don't have a rooftop tent (yet), but did buy my bed cover with rails so I can add rack and tent later. I've been scouring Youtube for advice and opinions and came across this video a while ago.

I can see his point:
