So, I never had a real issue with my 19 speaker system. I didn't understand why people complained because mine sounded fine. Well, I took it in for the first oil change, air bag recall, and complained about the rear edge of my driver's side front door sticking out more than the leading edge of the driver side rear door.
I didn't get my usual advisor, so this tech came out to the truck, turned it up to max and said nothing was wrong with it. I told him there was a TSB and he said, there is nothing wrong with it, it sounds loud. So I politely told him that we shouldn't be able to have a conversation with each other while that stereo is on max and I showed him the TSB on my phone. He complained that the TSB was vague. Mind you, I complained the exact verbiage that was on the TSB.
Anyway, a few hours later, he called and gave me an apology and said the entire shop was shocked after they did the amp flash. I picked up the truck the next day (had to leave it for the body shop to align the door), and it's amazing how great this stereo sounds now. It's louder, for sure; but it's as if the amp settings were all wrong and as if some of the speakers weren't working. I'm more amazed at the quality of sound than the loudness. On surround setting, I can literally feel the music hitting me from all around and that's something I didn't feel at first (some songs, I have to take it off surround because it's too loud for my sensitive ears). Now, it truly hurts my ears as I get up to max and I can leave it at a much lower volume for an enjoyable level now.
So, if you haven't complained about it, I would. Head over to the TSB thread and print it out or save it on your phone.
As for the door.....I noticed a lot of 19s had this issue on the lot and the tech pointed that out. But the body shop agreed it shouldn't be and they loosened the hinges on both driver side doors and adjusted the rear edge of driver door 'in' and the leading edge of the rear door 'out' and it's perfect just like the passenger side.
Only thing left to do is get some sort of foam on that rear sliding window to stop the rattle from this new thump I have
