Hello all, my ambient temperature sensor has been reading -5-10 degrees for the past few months when temperatures are far warmer(70s-90s.) I’ve replaced the temperature sensor repeatedly, have taken it to a ram dealer and the reply was “the after market parts don’t work well with these trucks.” Replaced it with an OEM part to no avail. It causes the AC to blow hot air, I have been dealing with it, but recently had a child so keeping them cool is paramount.
Thanks for any help and answers!

That sucks to deal with. You didn't list any info about your truck. What is the year and model? Is it still under warranty? You said that it's been having this problem for the past few months. Is it safe to assume that it worked correctly before then?

It is a 2020, big horn 5.7. No longer under warranty and worked fine up until a few months ago.

I don’t know if this will be any help to you, but my 2020 did this under warranty. The dealership swapped sensors, wiring, etc to no avail. After a bit more time, I had some other electronics fail me, and they swapped the Body Control Module, which also resolved this ambient temp issue.

Hope that helps, although it may not be an inexpensive solution.

Mine was reading 116°, 63° outside.

I had a BCM replaced; I was under Maxcare at the time. The work order was just shy of 2 grand for the replacement and programming.

OP - The best way to tackle this issue is to get a hold of an OBD scanner that can look at live data. This way, you can see what the BCM is seeing. Although I've never tried, I believe AlfaOBD will do this and it comes in at a lower price that other scanners.

I have already had this replaced twice, I was having an issue where my truck wouldn’t turn off electrics and got the alert “vehicle not in park.” Is there any way to “tweak” this without having it replaced again?

Looking at live data is a good idea. As followup, with the part replaced twice already, I would inspect the connector on the BCM and the harness it connects to. This could be as simple as a corroded or bent connector pin.

The AAT sensor is connected to the DDM (driver door module) the DDM communicates with the BCM via can-bus.
So it is possible that the DDM or the wiring harness/connector is at fault.
