So I have a 2012 1500 5.7 hemi and I've had this happen to me 2 other times other then today and that is
While backing up all the sudden it feels like I backed into something and the truck just stops. I got out to look cause I didn't see anything behind me in camera or when I turned and looked so I got back in pulled forward a little and turned a different way and started backing out again and about the same distance it happened again.
The other times I put it in drive and it drove just fine. I've looked on line and it says several things but to me it seems like it's something that is very directly impacted by one thing that could be wrong with. I'm praying it is something under my warranty.

That's the emergency braking while in reverse. It thinks it saw something you might back into. You can turn it off in the Uconnect settings. It gets a lot of fase positives.

Not sure if a 2012 has this feature, but yes it does sometimes activate braking when nothing is there on my 2022. It's annoying but it saved me once when some idiot drove up quickly behind me while I was backing out of a parking spot. If the system didn't stop me, I might have hit the idiot's car (more like he would have hit me but try to blame it on me) - so it saved me thousands in damage and I keep it on just for something like that.

If you back up slowly (under 5 mph) with your foot on the brake pedal, it won't trigger the active braking.

Oh, I didn't see it was a 2012. I read it as a 2022. I just assumed since he posted in the 5th Gen 1500 Rams site and not the 4th Gen.

Do you have a 2012, or 2022? Cause 2012 didn't have that feature. And if it's a 2022, and your parking sensors go off it will apply the brake, unless you disable that setting in the radio menu.

My 2023 does this, sometimes, when I am backing out of my driveway.
How do I disable this?

It's speed dependent so it'll only trigger if you're moving quicker than a set speed, not sure what that speed is but I found that if I'm less aggressive backing into my driveway it won't trigger.

I am pretty sure it is 7 MPH. That's what most of the other systems are switched on or off.
