Upgrading my 9 speaker Alpine system, and first time I have ever messed with car audio.

What would be the best way to add a small tweeter if I replaced the front door 6x9 speakers with 6.5' components. I understand the front doors only get low/mid sound so I cant just add a woofer/tweeter on that connection. I added new 3.5"s in the dash which was a huge improvement.

Is it best to just upgrade the 6x9's to keep some of the bass to balance out the improve sound in the dash? Other suggestions? Thanks.

The thing about car audio, is that it’s all subjective to what sounds good. So I would say to customize it to your sound preference and your budget. With that said I found the best way for me to fully customize my truck’s audio, was with the Rockford Fosgate DSR1.

The only draw back to using it, would be that you must use an aftermarket amplifier/s to drive all your speakers even if you do not replace them with aftermarket ones. But other than that, using it to completely customize and tune your system is pretty easy using the app. The app lets you configure your system’s layout and set your crossover points to the exact frequencies you want for each speaker. You don’t even have the use any of the amplifier’s filters.

It all depends on what you really want to achieve, without a separate amplifier the best way would be to wire the tweeters in parallel with the dash 3.5, that would require run new wires to the front doors and place the tweeter on the top of door panels just like this

Just don't use the tweeter part or crossover of your components set, or do what he said ^^^.

Or get a 2ohm mid bass speaker and replace the 6x9 with that. If you go to a higher ohm, you're going to lose power. Not alot of options for 2 ohm. Myself and many others have used the CDT Audio CL-69S with great results.

I also put CDT Audio HD-690SEX in the rear doors.
