I've looked through many threads and watched YT how-to's, but I don't see what I'm doing wrong. See signature info below for equipment. I can connect with the ODB and see all the control modules and settings with no problem. I'm new to Alfa, so I wanted to try a couple of simple changes first, one at a time. I tried the seat belt setting and the windows global down setting. Each shows the change has been made. But neither of them work, and when I go back into settings, they are back to their original settings.

Being new to it, I've done one change at a time as follows: connect ODB interface to the SGM bypass, engine off, ignition on, connect Alfa via BT, make the setting change, ignition off, disconnect Alfa & ODB interface, wait 5-10 minutes and test function. In these last steps of the sequence I've tried cycling ignition off for a few seconds then back on before disconnecting and I've tried just disconnecting and waiting, but neither sequence works.

Any help is appreciated.
...and before the forum seatbelt police come for me, I have a medical reason for not using the seatbelt.

Where I typed Connect below you need to connect to the control unit. It looks like you missed doing that.
For example to keep fog lights on with high beams:

Car Model> Ram 1500> Function> Body Computer> Control Unit> My2016+ Powernet>Connect> Select Hood Open icon> Select procedure> Car Configuration Change>Select option> CBC Features: Front Fog Lamp Dropout Enabled>
Front Fog Lamp Dropout Enabled> - "No"

You can disable the audible seatbelt chime without Alfa by a sequence of seatbelt clicks at the correct time.
The global windows down feature does not work with 5th gens. Your efforts are futile.

Sorry, I wasn't detailed enough. I went through the "connect" step for my particular vehicle with no problem, which is why I was able to reach the specific settings and change them. And it told me that the change was implemented (don't remember the exact wording). It just didn't "stick." Thanks.

Neither of those settings will take on a 5th gen (same for 4.5gen HD's).

I would suggest that you do not use light text colors as there is a "light" mode on the forum and the text therefore is nearly or completely invisible.

I'm going to guess you selected too much text when you changed the color of the word CONNECT and then tried to revert it back. If you do that, use the "remove formatting" option in the text color selection box. If you really make a mess, it's sometimes easier to toggle BB mode off and clean out all the tags. Cheers!

Yes sir, that's exactly what I did. Thanks for the coding training - appreciated

Make your changes in run with engine off. after you make the changes. Make sure you turn off the truck, close the doors, and get the key far away from it for the 10 minutes so it can completely go to sleep.

Thanks for the replies and info. It seems a little odd that they would leave settings in place on their OBD menus that are not functional. I just unluckily selected two to begin with that were nonfunctional. I'm continuing to look through the myriad of menus. I will next be looking to add bed lighting, and I'll hope that can be turned on from Alfa.

It's not odd at all. The Ram isn't the only vehicle this works with. In fact, it isn't just for 5th Gen either.

I use jscan. I agree it would be nice if when you select a vehicle, the app would filter out options that don’t work for the vehicle profile you’ve selected.

Yes, I realize it's for numerous vehicles. I was thinking the app was getting the available settings from the vehicle control modules, not from its own internal list, but obviously that's not the case.

Yeah, that's not how it works. There isn't a list you can query from the BCM. The developer would have to know what settings are for each vehicle. And the only way to do that would be by having each vehicle and going through each setting to see what works and what doesn't. And doing that every time a new setting is discovered or changed for every model and year. It's just not practical.
