I've given up on finding anybody competent anywhere near me to work on my air suspension, (two dealers and two independents were a big, costly fail) and have decided to go all in on my truck and work on the suspension myself (still having issues like ride height sensor stuck, low air mass intermittently, one "have your suspension serviced immediately" fault (probably caused by moisture in the lines), etc. I understand that AlfaOBD would help me with this, with respect to recalibration, etc. I have downloaded the Alpha OBD app for Windows, but discovered that I need a "security bypass cable" to do more than just monitoring, and installing it looks a bit involved based on a video I found.

Is AlphaOBD my best choice for maintaining my truck? Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of when using it? Any other gotchas beside needing the bypass cable? Thank you!

Security bypass cable install is very easy. The BIGGEST thing with AlphaOBD, only do ONE change at a time to confirm. Some have made numerous changes only to screw something up. There are videos and threads about changes and how to. Also make sure to download your vehicles configuration file before any changes.

I have alfaobd and the security bypass cable, they work well.
Installing it? the bypass cable? Not that hard at all.
I would also recommend a subscription to alldataDIY for the actual troubleshooting and service information.

This. Save that backup file somewhere safe, so you won't end up with a bricked truck begging people to help you with bits of their backup files.

When I had my 2023 TRX, I set it back to the backup file twice or so after mucking something up by accident (over the course of almost three years). Always good peace of mind, if nothing else, having a backup of the original config.
