Hi folks,

Has anyone added ventilated seats to their truck? My Rebel has heated seats, but wasn't available with ventilated seats and I'd really like to add them. Has anyone done this or know what's involved in making it happen? I understand it wouldn't be integrated into the HVAC controls, but that's okay.

Thanks!
Tommy

There are a couple of older threads where people talked about what they did to add ventilated seats to their truck. Pretty sure it involved swapping in ventilated seats because they couldn't add the modules to their stock Rebel seats, but I don't remember for sure. Since you have the Rebel 12 package it might not be necessary to swap seats. But if you do, Laramie is the lowest trim level that you can get ventilated seats in, and would be the cheapest option. You'll probably want to spend a little time to search the forum for those threads to find out what's all involved.

Thanks, but I've been searching here and online and still haven't found the info. I'm seeking. I know I can get custom leather seat coverings and add ventilated seats via Katskins (or whatever that company is called), but my leather is already perforated so I'm not sure different covers are needed. And I understand that the TED (thermo electric device) module in heated/vented seats is what controls the temperature, but I'm curious how that module compares to the "heat only" feature of my seats.

This could be as simple as wiring the TED so it runs in reverse when the AC is on or it could be damn near impossible without extension modifications and parts replacements. And so far I haven't found the answer....

Not sure what words you were searching on, but I found this after 10 seconds of looking LOL. Hopefully this is helpful to you...

You'll have to do a ton of stuff to make it work. You either need to swap seats or completely disassemble your Rebel seats. I wanted to do this as well, but it was just going to be too involved for me. I'll look for the thread where the guy did everything needed for it.

It's so stupid that Ram doesn't put ventilated seats in the Rebel. They would have been the only reason I'd get a Laramie over the Rebel.

10 seconds? That's pretty good. I had already seen that thread, but other than a list of PNs the poster suspects will work, it wasn't anything definitive.

That's what concerns me. I definitely won't go through that much hassle. And I agree. Vented seats should've been available for the Rebel. :(

Ok after searching for a while, the user was @Daverous that did it. He was adding the front and rear heated/vented seats to his Rebel. For the fronts, it looks like "all" you have to do is get a set of Laramie/Limited seats, swap covers, plug the new seats in, activate vents with AlfaOBD.

Thank you!! That's the kind of info. I've been looking for. Thanks so much for finding that thread. :) Honestly, it doesn't sound like that bad of a swap and affordable considering I've actually toyed with trading in my Rebel for another truck....and vented seats was a rather large selling point. LOL

Yeah if you can find a set of used seats, then either DIY or pay to have the covers swapped. I found a Limited set on Ebay for about $1000, but it's the whole set.

Do the laramie and limited seats all come with ventilation?

The full seats are the way to go as I've mentioned before. I bought a pneumatic hog ring gun and it was pretty dang simple. Happy hunting! Loving mine with that black leather in 90 degrees.

That price probably won't last long as the bidding just started going up.
