Hey everyone, I have 4 new painted OEM flares that came with the clips to install on a Bighorn that did not come with the preexisting stamped holes for these clips. I hate the idea of drilling holes, but in the long run, for longevity, this is probably the best way to mount. Does anyone have experience doing this or is there a template available to drill the holes. Would hate to mess up. Thanks

Be very careful when drilling as I have a good friend who decided to do it own his own. He asked me to help and after looking it over I recommended he take it to the dealer to have them installed.

He didn’t want to spend the money and proceeded to do the job himself. Well, two of the four flares have gaps/are loose due to the hole placement. I hate to say it but he says that he should have listened to me. I’m never one to say I told you so and feel very badly for him as it really detracts from a beautiful blue Ram.

P.S. His truck was $53K for a well equipped Lone Star. The dealer wanted $450 to install the flares and as I told him before he did the job - $450 is cheap to get the job done correctly on a $53K truck.

The only way I would consider doing this is if I had another truck that I could remove the flares and make templates. If not I would bolt then from below in the wheel well and secure with double sided Molding Tape to the fenders. If you do drill remember to touch up holes with paint to prevent any possible rusting.

@MannymanX can you chime in? You installed these without drilling I think. I don’t think I’d drill to install flares honestly.

Hey. No drilling needed If using OE style flares.
They look great and fit just fine without drilling any holes.
You just need to press them inward while tightening the screws so they will sit flush with the fender.
You really shouldn't use OEM flares on Bighorn or tradesman, they are not supposed to fit there.
