Added led lighting for bed lights. Floor lights in the rear seat well, and for additional puddle lights at each door. Powered by courtesy light wire which throws a relay to power the lights… they come on with an unlock or door open and close after timer with courtesy lights.

Holy crap! You bring the phrase "Be prepared" to a new level... I like it. Do you have food and water rations in there too? Nice job.

Thanks. I chase tornados here in the central US and like to have plenty of medical gear on hand if we need to stop and render aid. Also want the truck to be ready to go if we need to bug out for any reason.

Did you already have OEM bed lights? If so, did you tap into them for the additional bed lights? I’m thinking of adding more bed lights, and it’d be nice to control them with the existing switch.

Nope. I added them all myself. Tied into the tan wire in the bundle under the moulding on drivers rear door. I also have a switched relay for ground effects on another circuit. On/off with a switch on the dash for those. Getting ready to do emergency strobes on A third relay.

Would it be possible to just wire aftermarket lights into that same tan wire without getting the OEM bed light kit also?

Very nice and well laid out setup.

You can add lights off that circuit fairly easily. I added a 60" LED strip up under each bed rail and mounted a switch in the plug where the factory lights would go. I used a SPDT switch and pulled power from the 12V lead in the trailer harness to one side, and will get around to tapping into the factory cargo light lead for the other. Switch can either be set to off, manual on, or on/off with the cargo light. If you are going to add much more current draw to the cargo light lead though, it may be best to use a relay.

Did you change the bulbs in your CHMSL cargo light? If so, which ones did you go with?
I replaced my stock CHMSL bulbs with these guys. bought em on aug 26th 2020 and almost a year later they're still brighter than daylight.

Care to explain how you wired these lights with the tan wire etc?

I need to know more on the bed mounts you have. I've been wanting to add a few things myself.

can you please show me which wire you tap to, so the light comes on when door opened and unlock pressed? Thank you. I want to add the puddle lights at the doors like yours.

I have done the easy way but not the most beauty way.
I tapped it with the cargo light on top rear of the truck. Unscrew the 4 screws >>> tap it to the blue wire (positive wire for the cargo bulb) >>> hide the wire behind the windows >>> run it down under the bed.

The photo below:
Red Ink is where I tape it to get the power.
Blue Ink is how I hide the wire behind the window rail.

You can tap into the tan wire in the harness inside the cab along the drivers side door or better yet drivers side rear door. Then carry that signal to a relay outside the cab using the pass through on the drivers side rear and use that to power a relay. Bring the 12V from the battery to the relay and ground the relay under the drivers door. there are several spots to tuck them up and away under there. From there you just run the lights back to the relay. I'll try to get some pics of the overall set-up and how I did the wiring. For some reason I never saw any of these replies pop up in my notifications, so sorry for ignoring everyone.
