Went to gas up at Wawa in Blakeslee Pa. (route 940 and 115).
Something didn't seem to work out with gas prices and did some math.
I "blend" 87 and 93 at Costco all the time as that is the only option if I want 89 however Wawa has 89.
Octane and prices:
87 octane 3.999
89 octane 4.419
93 octane 4.589

Blending the 87 and 93 resulted in 4.209 for my 11 gallon fill up (4.75% savings) for a savings of $2.11, the exact cost of my coffee. Thanks to all those that taught me math.

Did the same thing on the next fill up and the difference was 12 cents a gallon.

From my understanding I'm doing the exact thing as most pumps.

Yeah…that seems like a pricing mistake on Wawa’s part. I migt have just filled up on 93 if I saw that.

Regardless, I just completed a 1,200-mile drive north from Texas to Michigan, and gas prices took a big hit up here. I filled up with 89 for $3.309/gal (Texas), $3.599/gal (Arkansas), $3.799/gal (southern Illinois, maybe) and then $4.609/gal (Michigan)…all at Top Tier providers.

Really depends on the station and what they have for tanks. There are a couple local station with 89, and I don't see them mixing as one has 93 octane, and the other the 91 oct is ethanol free. It might be mixed at the fuel farm though

Interesting. I typically see 93 next to 90 ethanol free, which I presumed to be the same fuel sans ethanol. Maybe that station is “rounding up” to 91?
