I have over 800 miles on my 2019 ram 5.7 non etorque with 3.92 gears, and haven’t seen the eco light come on yet. I’ve heard you can turn the eco mode on in the UConnect but I can’t find it. Also, my mpg sucks, so I’m pretty sure mds isn’t activating. Thoughts? Where is the setting in uconnect?

Welcome,

If you haven't already, download the Owner's Manual here: https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/2019-manual.170/

The truck only comes with a User's Guide... also if you put your vehicle info in your signature, it helps to provide better information. Also the search function on the upper right is incredibly useful in finding information.

In the UConnect under 'Display', select 'Fuel Saver Display', when MDS comes on, the ECO light will display. I can't get it to come on at anything over 50mph short of going down hill.

MPG generally sucks for the 3.92 gears... and if you have the ORG, it sucks just a little more. I suggest using Fuelly to track your fuel consumption as the computer can be off by several MPG. For some folks it is dead on... for others, not so much; you can see my average below. I had several tanks at 13mpg, I'm now at 6K miles and my average is now closer to 16mpg, but it will take Fuelly a bit a time to average that out.

The heavier the truck the worse your MPG will be, also, if you are using 87 Octane, FCA recommends 89 for 'Best Performance'. I recommend using TOP TIER GAS, brands can be found here: https://www.toptiergas.com/licensed-brands/

I'm using 91 from COSTCO as it is cheaper than 89 anywhere else.

I haven’t seen it and I have 5600 miles. Not worried cause I’m averaging 19mpg.

You have to turn it in the settings via the uconnect radio for it to display on the dash.

Dang I turned mine on when I picked it up at the dealer with 35km on it and it came on when I drove it home.

When I first purchased my Ram, I set the highest gear to 8 so I could see what gear it was in when taking off and slowing down. I then read on here and the manual after reading it on this forum that the eco will not work when set to the highest gear. My eco comes on at 35 mph in town, at 50 mph on a highway and at 70 mph on a level Interstate. Unfortunately for me, I have a heavy foot anytime I have nobody in front of me when the light turns green, but I didn't purchase those 395 horses for gas mileage. I love the sound of those horses working out!!!

Mine came on as well on my way home from picking it up.. I honestly hate the light and turned it off as soon as I got home.. I don't really want to know when it's going from 4 to 8 cylinders. I just know that it works.
