I am in Canada and took delivery of our 2022 5th gen Ram 1500 Sport. Have done quite a bit of reading on headliner water damage, most commonly from a leaking 3rd rear (high cab mount) brake light gasket not being of great quality. I'm confused though as to whether this only affects gen 4 and 4.5 (4.5 HD) trucks and if the leaks were fixed in the new body shape??

What's the advice from owners here of the new body style 5th gen 2022 trucks? Anyone experienced roof leaks? What have you done to fix and anyone done any preventative maintenance? I don't want to wait for my headliner to have water damage to take it to a dealer and have them fix - would much rather get ahead of any future issue.

The new ones leak too(5th Gen) 2019 onward. Mine hasn't leaked but soon after I got it I put a thicker weather striping in there. I think the new ones with the Tech package(camera in the brake light) have a bit thicker gasket so they aren't leaking.

The gasket for the 3rd brake light was redesigned some time in 2021. I ordered my truck on 4-26-2021 and it has the new gasket.

Thank you, this is really good information. How would I determine whether or not I have the new gasket by looking at it?

My truck was built in December 2021, picked it up in March of 2022.

It looks like they added another piece of foam to the top. I didn't see the old gasket, but I'm sure you could find one if you did a search.

Thank you. I took a look at mine but guess I need to get up and unscrew the light housing to determine what the new gasket looks like? I can't see any additional rubber or foam poking out from behind the light...
