Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help, I'm having issues with my 2019 Dodge ram sport (5th Gen), the 4 wheel drive is not engaging all the time. When I try to put it in 4WD Auto the lights blink on the buttons and on the dash. At times it will engage and then the dash says SERV 4WD. I'm reading that the Actuator may be the problem and it just may need a good cleaning. I'm having issues with how to remove the plastic connector that attaches to the actuator, I believe this is called a pin connector. I can't get a real good grip on it but the top has a red piece on it. I'm assuming something has to be pushed or pulled for it to be released. I have tried searching it on google but cant see anything on how to remove this piece. I'm wondering if I need some type of tool or if i can use something in my garage to get it off. I know this may seem simple but all these connectors seem to be different on how they release..
Thanks, and looking forward to your responses.1000006996.jpg1000006997.jpg1000006997.jpg1000006994.jpg

Clean off the crud, slide the red locking tab out and squeeze, that should do it.
Truck central replaced his actuator, does not actually show how to release the connector but he did mention that it is easier to do after unbolting the actuator.

I had a similar issue and a new actuator fixed it. Just over $100 for the Dorman part on Amazon.

Use a flathead screwdriver to slide the red lock back, depress the black toggle, and pull it off.

Thanks guys, that exactly how you release the connector. I was able to get a flathead screwdriver at the front of the red piece then pry it back towards the wires, it will be flush to the back of it when its fully released. then i was able to pull the connector off, I used a flathead screwdriver again to pry the connector off, just to get it to release then it came right off. I cleaned it out and its still not shifting into 4WD so I guess I'm buying a new Actuator. My local ( Canada - Ontario) auto part stores want close to $300 for a new one, Amazon is around $170. I guess I know which route I'll be going !
Just an FYI those pictures I took of my Connector where from a scope camera so I was able to get a pic of the top of the connector but when you are underneath the truck you cant see the top of the connector only the red from the sides. This is for the people for future reference !

I get that message sometimes too. It happens more when I try to engage it while turning. I try it again after straightening out and it works
