Is there any advantage to using the 4WD Auto setting and the Tow/Haul mode in snow/ice road conditions? Will the Tow/Haul mode provide some engine braking? Just curious. I tried it today on some pretty icy roads and it felt as if it did help. Thanks.

I used to go down a 1 mile long mountain daily driving to work, and putting the truck in tow/haul kept it right at the 45 mph speed limit without touching the brakes, so yes in my case it did keep it in a lower gear and provide engine braking. In slippery conditions it seems less likely to slide and skid if you stay off the brakes.

Auto 4 should not have anything to do with tow haul. No reason they can’t work at the same time.
