Not sure if anyone else has put a lift on their ED, but I went ahead and had the 4" BDS lift kit installed just over a year ago. This required replacing the drive shaft with a new one as it needed to be around 2" longer than the stock. Less than a year into it my front axle broke. I have heard that it was due to the lift but I do know that I bottomed out the front hard on a backroad (didn't see the ditch) so not sure if that started it but about 2 months after that my front axle was broke and had to be replaced. I got my drive shaft from Drivelines Plus out of Indiana - they were like the only ones around that could make the longer drive shaft and BDS stated it should work. Drivelines Plus just did a repair on an ED that also had a lift and the front axle broke. They created a bracket to more securely hold the front axle in place. Still waiting to hear how this holds up...
Anyone else have or heard of this issue? I have heard that it may be a common issue when lifting the ED. I can't believe I am going to have to go back to either a Hemi, or Cummins to be able to get a lift installed...
