Looking to get 35s Toyo open country tires for my 22 ram 1500 classic tradesmen. Just wondering if a 2in Leveling kit from Rough country will work without any rubbing or trimming?
Doubt it. I have a 20 Ram 1500. Installed a motofab 3 inch front with 2 inch rear level kit. Rough country upper control arms. Nitto 35x12.5 20 on stock wheels with 1.5 inch wheel spacers in front and 2 inch in the rear. Has to remove factory body molded mud flap from front and use heat gun to massage and smooth out front plastic fender liners. Took a little work but everything clears
Don’t understand the obsession with the 35x12.5 tire size, personally.
It’s the 12.5” width that is the problem - not so much the 35” height - which necessitates either a wheel spacer with stock wheels, or aftermarket wheels with more negative offset, in order to clear the upper control arms.
All that extra tire and spacer is just more unsprung weight and cost.
11.5” width tires are the way, and afford pretty much the same off-road capabilities anywhere outside of a mud hole or sand dune where floatation is helpful.
There are some Floatation tires specked as 35x11.5” but more commonly you’ll find them in LT Metric sizes - 285/75r18 or 285/65r20, depending on rim size. This would allow you to run stock wheels and fit with a basic level kit without crazy trimming.
The more negative offset you run, the more likely you are to experience rubbing.
