Hey guys, hope everyone had a great new year. I am changing the Tran fluid in my auto 8 speed and called dealership for pan reaplcement parts. They sent me the below but this pan has no drain bolt? (Even the picture of the part online has a drain bolt)

All the videos online I see of guys doing it have a drain bolt but maybe that’s a Hemi thing and not a thing on the 3.6L??? The part numbers match with the pan I have from factory but I also need to know if I can reuse the bolts and if also if the pan gasket is incorporated into the pan like the filter. Appreciate any help anyone can give me!

i believe that they all have a piece that you knock out that the plug goes into.. i had my truck serviced and my girls 21 challenger (same 8 sp transmission) and the shop didn't put the supplied plug into either one of our pans/filter.. guess it's not a big deal since you can just open the lower plug on the side of the trans also to drain before servicing..

thx jamie but there is no part to knockout, looks like i will be making a mess!

Leave 4 bolts near the corners when you remove the rest. Then loosen them a little bit. Maybe the pan will let go, maybe you need to tap it. But fluid will come out in a thin stream. Then you loosen one end and eventually one corner more and the huge majority of the fluid will drain out. Then it's easy to remove the last few bolts and lower the pan with the other hand.

Take the pan back to dealer and get your money back. Then order the PPE or B&M pan that has a replaceable filter. So next time not only will you have a drain plug, but also, I my have to replace a $30 filter vs a $200 pan

Yup, the factory replacement pan no longer has a drain plug, I just did my fluid on my JGC and used the Blauparts kit, no issues whatsoever

I wonder if your pan (the 5.7 hemi) with the drain plug works on mine, they look the same.

Trying to avoid dropping the pan full of oil when i do this fluid swap.
If you have the 8HP75 then I see no reason why not.
My `72 AMX with the 727 did not have a drain plug IIRC. Just "dropped" one corner of the pan and drained the fluid.

Somehow on the 5.7 they made the drain plug coat the exhaust in fluid as well as the fill plug during the refilling and level check procedure. I fixed one of those issues with the PPE pan.

Yepp did this today. I immediately said what dumba** decided it’ll be a great idea to put the drain plug here
