Just bought my first Ram yesterday. Having 2" leveling kit installed by dealer. Was planning BFG All Terrain 285/20 but I've seen a couple of trucks with 275s, and they are a fair amount less expensive. Thoughts on which size I should choose?

275 and 285 are the widths of the tire. A 285 tire is less than 1/2 inch wider than a 275 tire. You are missing the ratio here. It is the ratio (i.e., 275/60R20) that is going make a difference in appearance with a lift or level. IMO, a 285/60R20 (about 33.5" H and 11.2" wide) is a perfect size for a 2" lift or level. If you don't want an E-rated tire, you might consider a 275/60R20 (33" x 10.8"). Check out this link and it will show you the differences: https://tiresize.com/comparison/.

Thank you. I have heard and read the ratio explanation many times and for whatever reason I can't get it straight in my head. The stock tire is 275/55/20. I know that's not tall enough for sure. I don't mind an e rated tire. I assume that will be a little stiffer ride?

And heavier....which drops your fuel mileage

Is it possible to fit a 275/60 with factory suspension (no level or spacers, stock height)

I have 275/60r20 tires. Perfect for a 2 inch level.

Mine are standard load range, so doesn't really hurt fuel mileage.
