19 Big horn 5.7L Only 2200 miles and already have a really nasty cold start knock/tapping, lasts around 6 seconds, really noticeable and sucks..
Started hearing a slight tick after warmup during idle last week, not too bothersome at all, but now today out of nowhere it's bad at startup after sitting for an hour or more..
It's funny that I just filled out my customer satisfaction questionaire/survey tonight, hope they will step up and help me out, unacceptable on a new truck..I have owned 2 older Rams 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton with Hemi engines, both had noises (tick) heard only going through a drive through, didn't really bother me much, but nothing like this, especially on a 2000 mile vehicle..
Anyone else noticing any start up noises yet?

Have you done your first oil change yet? I would
No not yet... I was planning end of the week or so, will find the time tomorrow and get it done, will be amazed if it helps, but hoping it will

If you get a chance, can you record the sound and post?

What state do you live (climate)? Do you remote start frequently or not at all?

I get a lifter tick on startup occasionally. It usually happens after the truck has been sitting for more than a day and when I park it further down my driveway (more incline). I think the oil pickup takes a little longer to pump out the oil when the truck is on an incline.

I'm in New England..I do remote start but get in the truck soon afterwards, never let it reach the shut off point...
I tried to do a quick video, but on cold start this morning it was fine, drove it for a half hour, shut it off, restarted it and fine again..It's around 54 degrees today..yesterday was about 45.
One thing I do remember, is that yesterday, I started the truck cold and it was fine, and then let it ldle for a minute at most and moved it about 50 feet down my driveway away from my house to do some yard clean up, after it sat there for about 3 hours and I restarted it is when the rattle happened and was insanely loud...
Will see what happens, I'm going to record each start for a the new few days in case it happens again

Mine is a little noisy at startup, especially when pretty cold outside but I don't think it excessive. This is my first Hemi so comparing to my F-150s of the past isn't really a good comparison but it's noticeably louder than any of my Ford 5.0 engines. I agree with what was mentioned above, take it and get the first oil change done, also have the dealer check it out, from the way you describe it I think you could very well have some excessive noise coming from somewhere.

This is a pretty common trait of the hemi, and it's been that way for a while. As long as it doesn't continually do it than It's not something to be worried about.
