Driving down the highway at 80mph, my rear drivers side window suddenly shattered. When i stopped to inspect what had happened, there was no object, or glass in the back seat. There were no bullet casings easier (come on i live in FLA, thats common). The window had shattered outwards with all the shards landing on my hardtop bed cover. It was a bit chilly and the windows were fogging up, so i had the rear de-fogger up high with heat.
My only conclusion is that there was a malfunction in the rear window system?

Has anyone had any issues like this before? It only took me 2 minutes to do a Google search to find similar situations.
Has any been able to find Ram at fault?

Likely a bad connection with the rear defrost, causing it to overheat and shatter.

That's something that was common on 12th gen F150's. Found that out when I noticed the rear defroster was unplugged on a used 2014 F150 we were buying a few months ago, and I asked about it at the dealership. They said it was common and most owners just unplugged them. Haven't heard about it being an issue on 5th gen Rams though.

I had this happen back in February 2024 and it happened again on 1-10-2025. I have a 2020 Ram 1500 crew cab.
