I did a search and found the same problem similarly described, but the solution isn't the real fix as far as I'm concerned: Passive entry doesn't unlock rear driver side door?

Problem
- With the setting '1st Press of Key Fob Opens Driver Only'
* When I grab the driver Driver Front door handle, the passive entry unlocks: Driver Front Only
* When I grab the Passenger Front door handle, the Passive Entry unlocks: ALL DOORS

- With the setting '1st Press of Key Fob Opens All Doors'
* When I grab either Driver Front or Passenger Front, the passive entry unlocks: ALL DOORS

So I like the KEY FOB only opening the Driver Front with one press, but it's ridiculous that in this setting, the Passenger Front can open all doors when the Driver Front won't (via Passive Entry). I mean the whole point is for safety, so I may be missing something entirely here. I'm not necessarily looking for a solution, but I'd like to know if other Ram's have the same issue and avoid the Dealer again..

Dealer: So a couple of weeks ago I took it in for some warranty work (Mobile Connectivity Failed on UConnect, requiring new UConnect components), and showed them this issue. Once the UConnect components were replaced, they could not replicate the issue and kept it 2 additional days to try and get the issue to repeat. Once I got it home and adjusted all the settings back from default, I realized they couldnt replicate it because the default was set to open ALL DOORS so they never saw the problem again. I called back today and explained what it's doing and now I have an appointment. If this is normal, I'd like to not waste my time with an appointment and getting rides...

TIA!

I have no idea if our truck behaves this way until I get home from work and check. But I would like to point out that you're asking about the behavior of your 2500 in a 1500 forum. The two may not behave the same way. I'm curious to know if our 2020 1500 Limited is the same as yours though so I'll check on it when I get home (if I remember).

This is normal behavior. The setting only applies to the driver’s side door.

I agree that it’s silly that the behavior is different on the passenger’s side but it is.

it pisses my wife off that I have to open my door and press the unlock button on the inside of the door to open the other door, but I think having all 4 doors open automatically can be a security concern, especially since most of the time it’s just me getting into the truck.

I really wish there was a “double tap” option on the door handle like on the key fob where you could unlock all doors by grabbing the handle twice or grabbing the handle and pressing the “lock” button but as they say, if wishes were horses we’d all be eating steak.

mikeru82: Thanks for pointing that out, I clearly missed that! I sold my '21 1500 a few months ago so I didn't pay attention to that important detail. I don't recall it doing this but I didn't keep it long enough to remember.
